Nick Garcia

Theatre

Nick Garcia joins the faculty of ArtsWest with nearly two decades of acting, directing, producing, and teaching under his belt. He studied theatre arts at BSU and the Practical Aesthetics technique at The Atlantic Theater Company Acting School Conservatory in NYC. As an actor, he has worked locally with Boise Contemporary Theater and Idaho Shakespeare Festival, and has co-written, performed, and produced a number of original productions including There's Chinese Tunnels Under Boise! (and other Local Legends), A Might-Be Funny Experiment in Comedy, and The Perry Starkley School of Business. Nick has represented a variety of companies over the years, including The Idaho Lottery, AIM International, and Delta Dental, with a wealth of (mostly comical) commercial voiceover and television work. He has twice been a featured storyteller for Story Story Night, and helped found the local storytelling organization. He has also been a twice-selected artist for Trey McIntyre Project's 9+1 annual event. Nick has more than 15 years experience teaching acting for various local schools and organizations, including Idaho Shakespeare Festival, ANSER Public Charter School, Treasure Valley Institute for Children's Arts (TrICA), and Idaho Theater for Youth. Currently, Nick is the co-founder and Artistic Director of The Empty Boat Theatre Company in Boise, which he co-runs with his fiancee, Hollis Welsh. As a teacher, Nick believes that acting and directing are learnable crafts that any committed student can master if practiced in earnest.
