Johann Vargas

Piano

Johann Vargas was born in Caracas, Venezuela where his interest in music begun at age seven. In 1989 that the Vargas family decided to leave Venezuela behind and travel to the United States, to the small town of Twin Falls in southern Idaho. Here Mr. Vargas was taken under the wing of Ms. Margaret Vincent, Chairman of the Music Department at the College of Southern Idaho (CSI), and Ms. Sue Miller, also a professor of piano at CSI. There he received his Associate Degree in Piano Performance. Upon moving to Boise, Idaho, Mr.Vargas begun his piano studies with Dr. Del Parkinson at Boise State University (BSU) where he obtained both his Bachelor and Masters degree in Piano Performance. During his studies at BSU, Mr. Vargas won several local competitions, gave many recitals and concerts and had a full time teaching studio.
Mr. Vargas is also an ex Show Pianist for the Hughes Brother’s Theater in Branson, Missouri. Currently Mr. Vargas has a studio in the Arts West School in Eagle and also at Dunkley Music downtown Boise.

Teaching Philosophy

It is my goal to help students reach their own goals and dreams concerning music. Music is a very large tree with many branches and I strive to introduce all students to as many branches of music as possible. I believe in a strong foundation in technique for their physical development, and Theory for their mental development. I teach all levels from zero to the concert stage. I have experience with all major methods. Theory and ear training, Fake Books, improvisation, sight reading, solfege, composition, accompanying, classical, pop, rock, gospel, etc.
